In October 2023, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), the National Health Research Institutes (NHRI), and the Gene Lay Institute of Immunology and Inflammation (GLI) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), Harvard Medical School, jointly signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aiming to advance the development of therapeutics for cancer as well as immune- and inflammation-related diseases. To further strengthen substantive medical collaboration and academic exchange, the three parties have actively promoted diverse initiatives, including lectures and symposia, to enhance integration and collaboration in scientific research.

Building upon this foundation, in 2025, the collaboration expanded to include the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan. ” The 1st KAIST–Harvard–Taiwan Immunology Joint Symposium” was hosted by KAIST in Daejeon, South Korea, bringing together leading scholars from the United States, Taiwan, and Korea for three days of in-depth academic dialogue and research exchange.

Continuing this momentum, Taiwan will host the second symposium in 2026, in conjunction with the International Symposium on Metabolic Medicine. ” The 2nd Taiwan–Harvard–KAIST Immunology Joint Symposium” will be held from May 13 to 16, 2026, over four days across Zhunan, Linkou, and Taipei. The symposium will cover key research areas including immunometabolism, cancer metabolism, mitochondrial function in disease, metabolism in nutrition and aging, as well as cancer immunology, neuroinflammation, and aging immunology. This event further deepens international collaboration and strengthens Taiwan’s pivotal role in the global research community of tumor immunology and metabolic science.

2023年10月，國立陽明交通大學（NYCU）、國家衛生研究院（NHRI）與美國哈佛醫學院布萊根婦女醫院（Brigham and Women’s Hospital, BWH）旗下 Gene Lay Institute of Immunology and Inflammation（GLI）三方共同簽署為期五年之合作備忘錄（MOU），致力於推動癌症及免疫與發炎相關疾病之治療研發。為深化實質醫學合作與學術交流，三方持續推動講座、研討會等多元交流機制，以強化科學研究之連結與整合。

在此合作基礎上，2025年進一步邀請韓國科學技術院（KAIST）及台灣林口長庚醫院共同參與，由 KAIST 於韓國大田市主辦「第一屆 KAIST–Harvard–Taiwan Immunology Joint Symposium 國際免疫學聯合學術研討會」，邀集美、台、韓三方學者齊聚一堂，展開為期三日之深入學術交流與研究分享。

延續此跨國合作脈絡，2026年由台灣接棒主辦，並與國際代謝醫學研討會合併舉行，於5月13日至16日舉辦為期四天之「第二屆 Taiwan–Harvard–KAIST Immunology Joint Symposium」，活動分別於竹南、林口及臺北三地舉行。研討會主題涵蓋 immunometabolism、 cancer metabolism、 mitochondrial function in disease、 metabolism in nutrition and aging，以及 cancer immunology、 neuroinflammation、 aging immunology 等核心領域，進一步深化跨國合作內涵，並強化臺灣於國際腫瘤免疫與代謝研究領域之關鍵角色。
